From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
