The artist has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the MVT, which operates to preserve the UK's independent music venues.

The star was awarded the cheque on October 16 as his new release the album was named the top album of the past year.

The musician has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots played in his early career.

"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the performances I played around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," stated the artist. "These locations are renowned, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds helped locations that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues caused by water damage, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues obtained monetary aid in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and concertgoers.

"The concept that money from performances in big venues helps the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

He is far from the only musician to give his honor funds to good deeds.

Back when they won the prize in 1996 for their album the album, vocalist Jarvis Cocker declared that the group would donate their winnings to the charity War Child.

In 2002, artist the artist divided her bounty among a few organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed new equipment," the artist shared with a publication.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective donated their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally 1994 winners M People gave their award to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the condition.

"The victory was ample," stated vocalist Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our victory touched the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected several grassroots venues in south-east England, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The Joiners in the city and The Croft in that location were acquired under the public acquisition scheme, which is supported by the arts council and supporters who purchase "shares" in the properties.
